Locations: Atlantic City, NJ Pomona, NJ Job Type: Full-time BENEFITS: 401(k) Dental insurance Flexible schedule Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Vision insurance JOB DESCRIPTION: The Laboratory Technician performs laboratory testing procedures according to established procedures, under the supervision of a designated Medical Technologist or Laboratory Supervisor/Manager/Director. The Laboratory Technician performs tests in compliance with standards and reviews and verifies results to ensure data validity. This position applies appropriate procedural techniques related to specimen procurement and handling, instrument operation, operator maintenance, application of universal precautions and inventory monitoring. The Laboratory Technician performs and document quality control procedures and proficiency testing in accordance with established parameters and standards. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to team work and cooperation. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: Minimum of two year degree in related health sciences and completion of an accredited medical technician program or meets FDA qualifications for CLIA (1988 Clinical Lab Improvement Amendments) standards for all laboratory and moderate complexity testing. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: MLT ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) or equivalent, registry eligible and required from 18 months of hire date or transfer. Certification must be maintained if not grandfathered from the Board of Registry (BOR) and requires participation in 12 CEUs annually. EXPERIENCE: Prior laboratory experience preferred, but not required. Knowledge of medical terminology required; knowledge of laboratory information system utilization after six months on the job training. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
